What each standard and legal instrument actually requires of a PDF, and by when.
- ADA Title II PDF deadlines: April 2027 and April 2028 What the rule requires of documents, which entities it covers, why the deadlines moved by a year, and what the regulator said about automation while moving them.
- EN 301 549 clause 10: accessibility requirements for non-web documents The European harmonised standard for ICT procurement. Clause 10 is the one that governs PDFs, and it points squarely at WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
- European Accessibility Act: already in force, and it covers documents The EAA applied from 28 June 2025. Unlike the ADA Title II deadlines it is not approaching — it has arrived, and it reaches the private sector.
