One page of a service costs more than a week of Taggart
At the low end of the market rate — USD 4 a page — a single 80-page report costs USD 320 to have remediated. That is more than a year of Taggart Solo, for one document.
This is not an argument that software replaces the specialist. It does not, and every vendor charging per page is charging for judgement that cannot be automated. It is an argument that the specialist should not be spending forty minutes per document fighting a reading-order panel.
Frequently asked questions
Why is checking free when every other paid tool charges for it?
Because checking is solved and commoditised. PAC is free, veraPDF is free, PDFix Desktop Lite is free and permanently so. Charging for a validator would mean competing on price with three good free tools, and losing. Fixing is the hard part, and it is what a plan pays for.
Is there a one-time licence?
No, deliberately. A one-time licence at a price this audience would find credible signals a toy, and the alternative you are weighing is USD 4–25 per page of human labour. A subscription also funds the thing that actually matters here: keeping the rule set current as PDF/UA-2 lands and the ADA deadlines arrive.
What happens when I cancel?
Remediation stops at the end of the period you paid for. Validation keeps working, unlimited, forever — it is free for everyone. Every file you already produced is yours, unencumbered: Taggart writes ordinary PDFs with no licence check, no phone-home and no expiry.
Do you offer a discount for non-profits, education or the public sector?
Yes. The organisations under the hardest deadlines are frequently the ones with the least budget, which is a bad way to allocate accessibility. Write to us with a sentence about the work and we will sort something out.
How does Israeli pricing work?
Shekel pricing at local parity, invoiced in ILS with Israeli tax handled, and support in Hebrew. Hebrew is a first-class locale in the product, not a translation layer — the interface, the reports and the right-to-left engine are all built for it.
Can I try the paid features before committing?
Run the free validator on your real documents first — that tells you how much work you actually have, which is the number that decides whether a tool is worth it. If it says you have a reading-order problem across 200 files, the answer is probably yes. If it says your documents are fine, we would rather you kept your money.
